Hand Hygiene

Everyday our hands come into contact with millions of micro-organisms called bacteria. Health experts confirmed
that the palms of our hands are populated with millions of bacteria. Even if your hands appear to be clean, they may carry germs.

Hands pick up germs in a number of ways e.g. sneezing or coughing into your hands, contact with people or objects in the environment, using the toilet, handling money etc.

These germs are easy to transfer, in this way causing you, or others to get sick. This can be prevented by regular hand hygiene. Adopting this simple habit can play a major role in protecting your health.

The following steps will thoroughly rid your hands of germs.

Wash your hand frequently with soap and water for at least 20seconds
Remove any hand jewelry you may be wearing such as rings
Wash the front and back of your hands, as well as between your fingers and under your nails
Rinse your hands well under running water, using a rubbing motion
Wipe and dry your hands gently with a clean towel.

In order to minimize the risk of transferring germs, it is advisable to practice hand hygiene after coughing, sneezing, before and after eating, handling animals, using the bathroom etc.
